10th Anniversary
Scholarship for Rural Students

It has been 10 years of WARC!

As we complete this decade of our history, we look back with gratitude to our community of volunteers, students, and donors, from Uzbekistan, the US, and beyond.

For our anniversary, we would like to support a few of our former students who are interested in continuing their education. Our volunteers are launching a mentorship program to help rural teenagers navigate the college application process. We will likewise organize visits with our partnering academic institutions and opportunities for volunteering. However, the cost of education still stands. Getting into university in Uzbekistan is an uphill battle for rural students. Scholarships are allocated based on their performance on entrance exams. Tests are very competitive.

Many applicants attend 6-month learning centers, costing around $500 per semester. Our students are far from the regional capitals and face a long commute of about 3 hours. At university, students must also pay tuition and housing. For this anniversary, we would like to reach out to our community with a fundraiser to support the students.

Please consider supporting our students in this important moment of their lives.

For every 10 dollars donated, 9 dollars will go to students' scholarships and 1 dollar will go to our transport costs to visit their schools as part of our ongoing filter check-ups and educational projects. Should you have any questions, we will be glad to answer!

My name is Shirin.
I live in Yonboshqal’a, which belongs to the Turtkul district of Karakalpakstan. Currently, I am a 10th-grade student at School No. 39. Because I am interested in chemistry and biology, I would like to study in the medical field in the future. Since there are no preparatory centers in my area, I am currently studying independently at home using a self-study method.

My name is Aqilbek.
I am 17 years old. I was born in 2008 in Qilqali village in Kegeyli. I participated in WARC's journalism program and wrote an article about endangered species, which then got published!
I enjoy watching action and historical films. I am also interested in IT and want to become a software developer in the future.
Becoming a desired specialist is not easy, but I will work hard. I hope that my dreams will not remain just dreams.
